Touch Canceled for term four.

Touch Term 4:

I have just received an email regarding touch. Canceled due to Covid restrictions.

Having received information from Touch NZ and Sport NZ on the 8th of October regarding numbers for gatherings, plans were being made on how that might look for us all this term, playing and attendance-wise. The information received mentioned that outdoor gatherings were now able to have more than 100 people which meant we could play in level 2, as long as guidelines were being followed.

Unfortunately as of yesterday, with another email received, previous information had been misinterpreted. Clarification means that all gatherings still have a maximum number of 100 while still following Health and Safety guidelines.

What this means – With the numbers we have participating and at any stage on Thursdays during our Touch season we would have between 200 – 500 people on the park every half an hour between 3.30pm and 7.00pm. Around 1500 people attending within the 3 and a half hours of game time.
So this means that we are going to have to CANCEL our Touch season this term. With our tamariki being vulnerable, as they are ineligible to receive the vaccine, canceling is the safest and best option. I hope all understand.
A huge thank you to all schools that have registered their teams and for the work behind the scenes that has been done. I do appreciate all that work.
I will put a message on Facebook to inform the wider community also.
Thanks again all for your commitment to Feilding Junior Touch and we will see you all next year.

Stay safe all,

Delaney
