Production Changes. The show will go on!

Obviously, with all the disruptions, Covid is causing we are making modifications to our Production performances. This is a real highlight for many of our students and we are working really hard to get the opportunity to perform on the BIG stage. We have rescheduled dates to enable evening shows on Tuesday 21st, Wednesday 22nd and Thursday 23rd of September. We will need to fit within the Level 2 gathering limits of 100. As many of you have already purchased tickets for the evening shows we are asking that if you are able to move from the existing Wednesday or Thursday show to having people attend the Tuesday show. We really need to limit the numbers to 100 and have already sold 130 tickets to each of the evening shows. If you are able to look at changing to Tuesday night this will help us out immensely.

We will still be holding a matinee and are hoping to keep it the same as a Wednesday. This is all dependent on facilities being available.

We are really focused on making this work for our students and appreciate the support with these changes.

Pet Day 2021 Thursday 30th September

Pet Day 2021 Thursday 30th September

Pet day is scheduled for Thursday the 30th of September. We are still planning to manage this even if we are at Alert level 2 as we can safely manage the number of spectators around our school site by spreading people out.

We need to get entries from students with what pets they are intending to bring along.

The timetable is attached with a few changes from previous years to hopefully make it easier for our invited judges. We have also moved the starting time to ease the pressure on families getting animals to school so early.

Please complete a separate entry form for each child.

Pet Day 2021

Important Planning for Level 3 transition: Please complete form.

Afternoon everyone,

I am sure you all have been awaiting 3:00 announcement from the Prime Minister. As a result of the announcement to move to Level 3 at 11:59 Tuesday the 31st of August we need to put the planning in place now for as a school we will operate.

South Makirikiri school will be open from the 1st of September for those in essential work and needing the supervision for your children. This is for those that there is no other possible way to supervise them from home. The ultimate goal would be for learning to continue at home where possible.

We will be continuing with. home learning and those that do need supervision at school will be engaging in online learning and supervised in dedicated spaces. We will do this in a variety of ways as we have to work through who is able to supervise students at school.
There will direct instructions for those who do require supervision with dedicated times for dropping off and picking up, along with the rules we will have for around our school site.

Can you please complete the online form so we can start to get a picture for what the 1st of September for the staff that will be supporting supervision at school.

This again is a testing time for us all and we appreciate the way you are all working to support your families.

Thank you for your support in enabling learning to continue at home and know we will provide the supervision for those that need during level 3.

Snow Trip: Will continue ass planned with a decision made by Friday this week.

Facebook videos: We will add daily Facebook videos for those interested.

Lockdown day 2: We’ve got this! Please complete the form if you have not already.

Thank you to all those who have completed the google form about the need for devices or hardpacks.

Hopefully day two has gone well and I know many students have engaged with their peers and teachers already which is amazing to see.

If you have not yet completed can you please do this ASAP as it will help us with planning for distribution of devices if this is needed. I will be working with staff on how we do this if we have an extended time at home.

We will be in touch tomorrow with our plans and another information as it comes to hand.
