Emails coming from school

Emails coming from school

It appears that some parents are not receiving email coming via our student management system (etap). This is our most effective way of sending bulk emails. I have been sending out daily emails so if you are not receiving them, please follow the guidelines below.     The explanation from etap.

Make sure you check  Spam/Junk as eTAP emails land there incorrectly.

Etap do have issues with hotmail / outlook / live accounts :

Try this option if you do not receive any of the emails from eTAP

Parents may have to add etap.co.nz to their ‘safe list’ & they will get emails sent from eTAP.

Click on “Options” in the upper right corner of your Hotmail/Gmail screen.
Then click the link for “Safe and Blocked Senders” in the body of the page under Junk e-mail.
Click the “Safe Senders” link and enter the email address you want to whitelist.
Click “Add” to put it on your list.

We are currently looking into solutions for this still.

We hope this helps.

Update on Covid @ South Mak

Evening family and whanau,

The weather truly has made it very pleasant around school for all those able to attend.

Just as an update, alongside our current number of students and families isolating due to Covid we have been informed of a student who was at school today that has tested positive this evening. We have been in contact with the class directly and ask you all to stay extra vigilant for the symptoms of Covid.

 These include:
o A new or worsening cough
o Sneezing and runny nose
o A fever
o Temporary loss of smell or altered sense of taste
o Sore throat
o Shortness of breath

If any develop, get tested immediately, then, stay at home until you receive the result.

This is a tough time for everyone, either going through isolation or for the many of us waiting to see if we also are impacted by Covid. We thank you for working with us and hope we get back to normality as soon as possible.

South Makirikiri School

Thank you everyone for keeping us informed.

Covid Update Tuesday 15th March: Thank you so much to those who are informing us when students return the POSITIVE Covid test. We definitely are seeing more students testing positive and know this adds huge pressure at home. We also know those having to isolate as families are being creative in making either the 10 or now 7 days pass as smoothly as possible.

Today we received a huge supply of facemasks which we available in all classes if students require them.

The Office will continue to be closed during the week and if you need to make contact please leave a message, email or ring directly to my cell phone.

I really want to acknowledge the way all our staff no matter what role they are fulfilling are putting the learning of our learners first. We know we will continue to have disruptions with staff being affected by Covid and really celebrate the way students are being able to adapt to these challenges.
We are working through getting learning packs out to families and know there is class learning getting out via email, seesaw, and google classrooms.

We really appreciate all the offers from our community to pick up areas that we may need support in. It is amazing to receive emails or phone calls asking how you can support us as a School.

Regards

Greg Allan

Monday 14th March

We really appreciate all the amazing work you aere all haivng to do on the fly. We had approximately 40% of the school away today with a range of sickness, family isolating or because of contracting Covid. We also have been impacted by staff having to isolate and as a result Room 6 students who attended school worked alongside Room 1. We hope all those working through isolation and Covid infections a speedy recovery.

As indicated in previous newsletters we will move to a hybrid learning platform if the need arises. Currently we can manage all students attending school and all the teachers, that can be onsite are prepared to continue with their learning programmes. Just like you, we are reacting as best we cqn for the changing situations.

We do have access to some hard packs and I know class teachers are providing access to learning through Seesaw and google classroom.

For the next few days the office will be closed and we ask that all queries are send to office@southmak.school.nz or phoned in.

We look forward to seeing everyone back on deck as soon as practical.
